Avoid Periodontal Disease with Deep Cleanings

Routine-Maintenance.jpgRoutine dental checkups and cleanings and your good oral care at home will go far in keeping your teeth healthy, but sometimes they need just a little extra love. We offer deep cleaning treatments to ensure that your teeth are completely free of plaque and tartar, even in the hard-to-reach places where regular cleanings can miss. With our deep dental cleanings, you can lower your risk of periodontal disease and increase the health of your mouth.

What Is a Deep Cleaning?

A deep cleaning involves two distinct processes: scaling and root planing. Scaling is the removal of dental tartar from the surfaces of the teeth. Root planing is the process of smoothing the surface of the tooth's root, including the gum pockets, so that the rough surface does not allow tartar to build up. The processes also remove plaque calculus and other stains from the crown of the teeth.

These combine to remove more tartar and plaque than is possible with routine cleanings alone, leaving the teeth silky, smooth and tartar free. Since plaque and tartar provide a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, this deep cleaning provides the tissue a healthy environment, limiting the risk of periodontal disease.

Keeping You Comfortable

Deep cleanings can be uncomfortable, particularly when deep pockets need to be planed. We will use local anesthetic to numb the area, and also offer nitrous oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas, to keep you calm, relaxed and comfortable throughout the treatment. We will also work with your insurance to ensure that the cost for deep cleaning your teeth is as low as possible.

Don't let tartar and plaque buildup put you at risk for periodontal disease, so we’ll help you fight back! If you want a true deep cleaning for your teeth, contact Clearwater Family & Sedation Dentistry.

"They are the BEST! I love coming here!"

"About 1 1/2 years ago, I was referred by a truck driver to see Dr. Battikhi. It was the best thing I ever did. My teeth were really bad and Dr. Battikhi suggested implants for my bottom teeth. Dr. Battikhi and his staff are wonderful, fun, kind and caring people. They are the BEST! I love coming here! Thank you all for everything you have done for me!"   ~ Gloria G.
